Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a light-touch approach that releases tension in the body to relieve any pain or dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) works with the Central Nervous System. All of the nerves in the body are connected and surrounded by a membrane. The brain, which is part of the nervous system, creates cerebral spinal fluid that permeates inside the membrane and lubricates the brain, the spinal cord, and all the nerves in the body. As the spinal fluid is formed and moved through the nervous system, it creates a rhythm called the Craniosacral Rhythm. Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle approach that can be effective for all ages including children and newborns.

Biography

Born in Silverspring, Maryland to a small family, Ingrid Candela, has always possessed an inherent desire to learn and further her knowledge about the world around her. Moving around quite frequently as a child, Ingrid has lived in multiple exotic locations such as Peru, Columbia, and Miami throughout her life. She has always been highly conscientious of herself and her surroundings, displaying qualities of good impulse control, goal-directed behavior, and organization. Growing up surrounded by the Andes mountains and Atacama desert nourished her love for animals and nature, as well as influenced her interest in natural-based remedies.

After attending Florida International University and Nova Southeastern University, she completed and obtained a master in elementary education, prompting her to work in the public school system as a Spanish teacher. After graduating college, she married her high school sweetheart and moved to Atlanta where she taught at the Atlanta International School. Soon after, the couple relocated back to Miami to raise and expand their family, having two sons.

Here in South Florida, Ingrid enjoys many different hobbies including painting, sewing, beading, bird watching, reading, and gardening, as well as dance and yoga. Her love for nature and children pushed her to pursue a deeper knowledge in Craniosacral and Lymph Drainage Therapy when her first-born son was diagnosed with ADHD.

Her son’s ADHD motivated Ingrid to delve into the world of Craniosacral and Lymph Drainage Therapy to learn as much as she possibly could. It was at the Upledger Institute Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens, FL where she learned how to use Craniosacral Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage Therapy to support both the central nervous system and lymphatic system in order for the body to self-correct and heal in a more natural way. Using these techniques substantially improved her son’s life, as well as the dynamics of their family, and have allowed them all to live more healthy and relaxed lives.

“When I got on the table and closed my eyes all I saw was red. But after Ingrid started the therapy, I could see a light blue, light green and yellow coming in. I felt so relaxed. It was so beautiful! After the session was over, my body felt so light, and I had more energy.”

Craniosacral Therapy has been just what I need to get me through the stress of my job and everyday living. I see Ingrid every week and it is the best 90 minutes of the week! When I leave, my mind and my body are in harmony.
